Geodatabase Design

Bruce Harris & Associates has vast experience using a modified form of the ESRI Land Parcel Data Model. Our version of the Parcel Data Model emerged after several months of development and testing with clients. The final result was a data model that utilizes all the functionality of the ESRI data model with the support of standard cadastral appearance. We currently have many counties throughout the United States that are receiving parcel deliveries using this model. In addition, several counties are currently performing map maintenance using this model and our customized parcel maintenance tools illustrated here.

Geodatabase Conversion

Bruce Harris & Associates has created several programs to ease the conversion from CAD or ArcINFO coverage to an ESRI Geodatabase. Our technicians are well versed in creating any additional programs for custom conversions to ensure a successful project. One program that we currently use in conversion processes is our Feature Distributor. This program examines a data source feature by feature and copies each to the appropriate feature class in the geodatabase. While copying the feature, any calculations on attribute items are performed at that time. The Feature Distributor tool can be run from an ArcToolbox tool, model, or script in ArcGIS 10.0.

The effort required to perform a large-scale conversion would lie in the data preparation. We have the staff and expertise to prepare data for conversion. This preparation can range from data clean up to manual mapping adjustments to new orthophotography. We also can provide a link of existing annotation to the appropriate polygon features so that all desired feature linked annotation will be functional from the beginning.

Other GIS Services

Soil/Land Use Mapping Bruce Harris & Associates provides complete farmland assessment solutions. This includes creation of GIS soil coverages as polygon features with the soil types inserted in the attribute table, creation of land use polygons, and generation of full value assessment soil reports. Once all three elements are created, a soils report is developed
