Shawn Blobaum

Vice President of General Operations

Mr. Blobaum supervises all GIS production and office coordination. He assists in the management of computer graphics and schedules and supervises computer workstations, digitizing, and plotting operations. He works directly with Vice President of Production to provide training for new personnel. Mr. Blobaum has provided technical assistance and training to clients and their staff in all phases of GIS. Duties also include client relations and research and development of new product lines.

Education

Mr. Blobaum has a Master of Science degree in Geography from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science and Geography from Augustana College.

Professional History

Mr. Blobaum has an extensive background in the field of Cartography and Geographic Information Systems. Since joining the BHA team he has managed projects overseeing the automation of data previously maintained on paper maps and other documents, into a fully functioning GIS database. He designed datafiles and subsequently managed the maintenance. He is knowledgeable in techniques concerning graphic data entry, editing, plotting, map construction, attribute data management, programming, digitizing, coordinate geometry, land division statutes, and data export and import.

Mr. Blobaum has overseen various GIS activities within and between County agencies, including relations with external agencies. He has managed major projects involving automation of all tax parcels for numerous counties including LaSalle, Winnebago, McHenry, Marshall, and Macon Counties in Illinois. He has assisted several counties with redistricting projects such as LaSalle, Winnebago, Macon, White, Shelby, and Montgomery. He is fully experienced in drafting, graphic design, topography, symbology, and project planning.

Mr. Blobaum started his mapping career in 1994 with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Rock Island, Illinois as a GIS Technician. Projects included flood data mapping and analysis, environmental mapping, and archeological mapping. He furthered his career by obtaining a Masters Degree in Geography emphasizing GIS technologies. While at NIU he was a Research Assistant and a Teaching Assistant for several geography courses.

Mr. Blobaum has extensive software experience in ArcInfo, ArcView, Avenue, AML and AutoCAD.
