Recap for 5/7 Webinar: Transitioning to ArcPro

  • Considerations: Lack of compliance with .mdb
    •  Big Emphasis on Geoprocessing and Analysis (early versions of PRO)
    •  Ribbon style interface vs. traditional toolbars
    •  Map Series (ArcPRO) vs. Data Driven Pages (ArcMap)
    •  Changes to Python (Anaconda)
    •  Keyboard Shortcuts are not available in PRO
    • Transition MXD to PRO (Import Functions)
    • Lack on Integration with Microsoft .mdb
  • Parcel Fabric in ArcPRO
    • https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/data/parcel-editing/createaparcelfabric.htm
    • Can you simply use SDE?
    • Upgraded version brings back editing tools with increased sophistication and productivity, as well as new tools for parcel management
    • Utilizes topology instead of point-based geometric network that governed the ArcMap fabric
    • Allows for increased customization (in data model design) and accepts a great deal cadastral types other than the typical ones (tax, lot sub, etc)
    • Increased flexibility in conversion.  Can be converted from an existing parcel fabric (recommended) or archaic data model (topology/shapefile/coverage)
